Cheshire dentist left without phones after driver crashes and flees the scene

A Cheshire dentist fears its patients could be hit after a driver crashed into garage and a communications box and fled the scene, causing the phone lines to be cut off. The incident happened at around 7.39pm on Saturday (May 7) and saw police officers called to Halton Road in Runcorn.

A car had crashed into a Virgin communication box and a garage in the early hours of the morning causing extensive damage before fleeing the scene. A nearby dentist contacted Cheshire Live to express their concerns due to the impact the crash could have on its business.

Pictures from the scene show the communications box has been ripped out of the ground and flattened, with cables strewn across the pavement. The garage has extensive damage too. It is surrounded with police tape and there are broken panels lying around outside.

Halton Road Dental Practice is based on Halton Road in Runcorn. Dr Jon Westall said the crashed meant the phone line was cut off, which could have a “serious impact” on patients when it reopens today (May 8).

He said: “The garage used to belong to us but was sold to the neighbours at Halton Road several years ago, whom we have had a close relationship with for over 25 years. Sadly the owner George passed away a few months ago and so this is further bad news for his family.

“Several patients and staff members have expressed concern about the damage and hope that no-one was seriously injured in the crash. The phone lines to the cul-de-sac have been cut off, which we are concerned may have a serious impact on the business when it re-opens after the weekend.”

Now, Cheshire Police is appealing for information following the crash and stated that there were no reports of any injuries.
